The terms ‘small scale works’ and ‘extensions’ often belie the enhancing effect which they can have on both the aesthetics and functional use of a property and in some cases can be as complex in construction as larger projects. Every addition or conversion is as individual as the property for which it is designed - the shape, the size, the proposed use, the budget, site constraints, the construction. All of these must be factored into the design and in many cases the space created by even minor alterations and additions transforms and alters the use of adjoining spaces and often becomes a new focus and the primary space.
